Re: pictures as pdf files

Rainne, what software application (for example, Adobe Acrobat, Nuance Power PDF, etc) do you use to view pdf files? If you are using other than the free version of Adobe Acrobat (and perhaps even there too), you can extract graphic images embedded in a pdf file. For example, with Nuance's product, o...

Re: Word Perfect X8 Book Conversion and Editing

Sorry, however you seem to have misunderstood my response. Rich Text Format (.rtf) is not an MS Word format. This is a generic format that can be used to transfer documents between word processors, whether MS Word, Word Perfect, or open source (Open Office, LibreOffice, Google Docs, etc) or even the...

Re: Word Perfect X8 Book Conversion and Editing

Heredis actually exports as an .rtf (Rich Text Format), a cross-platform file format. (Think of Adobe's .pdf format that is used across multiple platforms too.) Word Perfect should be able to read a .rtf file and convert that file to the current version of .wpd file format.

Re: Matrilineal line - additional thought

An additional thought if I might concerning the recording of DNA tests results. DNA testing is finally hitting a major 'bump' in genealogy (interest, advertising, and use in finding distant relatives), yet few genealogy software offers any pre-designed event to record such tests or show those result...

Re: Matrilineal line

What you want is an mtDNA chart for the maternal lineage of an individual, with that individual male or female that offers differents in the actual display of that DNA lineage. Charts for DNA are very new for genealogy software. I checked the current versions of the main software -- FTM, Family Hist...

GEDCOM import and other instructions

While I found the technical data sheet - "Improvement of the Gedcom import function" (https://www.heredis.com/en/support/learning-center/#sheets, select "Technical Data Sheets for other software Users (Import GEDCOM)) last weekend, I did not have an opportunity to read through the document until Wed...

Re: User Manual

Excellent question. Might I expand on that inquiry and ask why Help is a repeat of the User Guide (in Acrobat format) and not standard, context sensitive information? Field descriptions and action sequence (steps) would be very helpful.

From Heredis (after installing the upgrade), check Help > About Heredis. What information is shown?

Re: Alternate Names, please

torleifhe,

Might I suggest you use the "Search this forum" feature for 'Alternate Names'. There was a discussion of this topic in Dec 2015 that might provide you with a bit of additional information.

Two additional indexes (lists)

The Tools tab contains six indexes (lists) -- Surname, Given Name, Occupations, Places, Sources, and Media. I would like to see two additional indexes (lists) added - families (or perhaps Marriages) and Citations. The families / marriages index (list) would identify the two people tied in a marriage...
