Which version do you have? I use Norton Security Suite (version 21.5.0.19) available to Comcast Internet users. I have downloaded Heredis 2014 (along with the previous version of Heredis), yet have never had a response from the Norton software.

Re: How to register a change in the given name and gender?

Christine's suggestion to alter the Gender designation from M to F is correct. Given the individual's need for the gender change you would not wish to leave the designation as M. As for how to record the gender change event, might I suggest to include that information with the legal name change even...

Re: Date file last modified

Heredis Staff, Currently, Heredis 2014 displays created and changed information for a record (individual) at the end of the Tools Panel. Displaying that created and changed information might mean scrolling the last information display of the Tools Panel. Might I ask that the current Created: xx/xx/x...

Re: Date file last modified

In the light of Mike's response can I please request that consideration is given to adding the date a family file was last modified (in the lower information bar perhaps with number of persons etc.?). Billdog, I am relatively new to this board, so just read your post. Are you aware that the date an...

Re: Heredis design philosopy for partial names

"no name" is not too bad a choice ? It's unique enough for sorting ans filtering ... Ah, but the surname following import of the GEDCOM was not "no name" Mike. The software routine adds " ? - No Name", an entirely different text string. Anyway, thanks for the comments. I have been examining the Sea...

Re: Heredis design philosopy for partial names

Interesting Mike. Thanks. Based upon your brief comment I did a bit of testing, creating as small GEDCOM and importing that GEDCOM to Heredis 2014. The GEDCOM contained the following names: 1 NAME Jane // 1 NAME /Smith/ 1 NAME Joyce /[--?--]/ 1 NAME unknown /Brown/ Please note that Jane // has no su...

Re: Heredis design philosopy for partial names

The root of the internal file is the Name Thus every person entered MUST have at least a name , whatever it is Thank you Mike. Unfortunately your answer does not really answer the question, so please allow me an example. For example, a distant cousin gave birth in 1910 rural Michigan, USA to a baby...

Heredis design philosopy for partial names

Any Heredis representative: I've read the Heredis Help document, however that information only discusses where to type in names - given and surname. There is no mention in the document of how to record an ancestor when only part of the ancestor's name known. What is the underlying design philosophy ...

Re: Married names

Thank you Christine. I double checked the Heredis Help document and found Search tab listed on pages 6, 24, 54, and 65 and in the Appendix on pages 90 and 92. However, each of those references is very general without specific use/operation information for the Search tab. Did I miss some information ...

Re: Married names

Even married, a woman never changes her surname, it's only a tradition to name her just like her husband ... Sorry, however your statement is not entirely accurate. In some countries, a woman's surname is changed, such that when searching through records one would be required to search for a woman ...
