Demo crashes

I wanted to try Heredis 2017 and downloaded the demo. It installed fine but when I try to import a gedcom, it crashes every time. It gets to the point of showing the locations and then to the various fields and where they get imported to. I click Import and it crashes. Makes it very difficult to evaluate this version for possible use.

I am on a MBP with 16 GB of RAM running OS 10.12.3. Is there any fix for this problem?

Thanks,
Kathy

Hi,

Same here, but running the full version from the Mac App Store.

Not the best first impression of a new app...

I'm running:

- iMac 5K Core i7
- 32Gb RAM
- AMD Radeon R9 M395X
- Sierra 10.12.3

Regards

Darren.

Hi,

Reunion 11.

It exports GEDCOM 5.5 with UTF-8 encoding. I have line length set to 255, and I am exporting all standard and custom tags.

I tried their "Unicode" option also, and that crashes as well.

Here is the top of the crash log (see below). Let me know if you would like the full log file, or any other log files.

Regards

Darren.

My gedcom was from Legacy 8 (Windows) using default settings. I was always able before to import a gedcom from Legacy into Heredis 2015. I even tried an additional step ..... I imported the Legacy gedcom into Reunion 11; exported a gedcom of that data out of Reunion; and imported it into Heredis 2017. It got to the same place and crashed again.

I am having the same issues today when I try to import a Gedcom 5.5 with only 14 people in it. I've tried several times but get a full shutdown. I have a crash log as well if needed to help resolve. I'd really love to try out the software but this is making it impossible. I'm on a MacBook Pro running 10.12.3, 2.7Ghz i7 with 16GB memory. Any help would be appreciated! :?

Hi all,

In order to fix the issue, you must send PM me the crashlogs as well as your Gedcom file for further analysis.
Please also add your purchase details.

To get the crashlogs , go to Application > Utilities > Console > User Diagnostic Reports > Right click (or Ctrl+ Click) on any report starting with Heredis 2017 Reveal in Finder

Once you are in the Finder, select all reports starting with Heredis 2017 > Right click (or Ctrl+ Click) the selection > Compress items
Go to your desktop, there should a file named Archive.zip containing all the Heredis 2017 reports, PM me this archive along with your gedcom file. Should your gedcom file be too big, please upload it on Dropbox (or any cloud platform) and PM me the link to download it.

Bill, how can we PM you? When clicking your name I'm not seeing a PM option. Also on the Mac the "User Diagnostic Reports" are not showing up under my Utilities. However I do have the crash log from the shutdown. Spotlight search revealed no "crash logs".

Thank you for your help!

I too have the same problem. Bought Heredis2017 yesterday - and cannot import gedcom.
I've tried several versions of gedcomfile and gedcomfile written from different software-packages. Heredis crashes every time.

I'll send you a copy of the error-log and a copy of a gedcomfile, that made Heredis crash.

By the way Heredis2017 did convert a previous .hmw file from Heredis2015 successfully. I tried from this familyfile to export a small gedcomfile from Heredis2017 and then afterwords to import it as a new familyfile in Heredis2017. - With success and no crash.
