Posting status of person as dead when date unknown

I am a newbie, so I apologize for such a basic question. I am building an extended family tree. I know certain individuals are dead, but I do not know the date of their death. Is there some field I can access that shows that the person's status is dead? Is there some sort of color coding or other visual cue that can be triggered by a status of dead versus alive? Any thoughts are welcome. 30 pounds to dollars
