GEDCOM Import Failure

Post by rcarter1121 » Sat Aug 04, 2018 11:12 pm

I am having a very difficult issue with importing files. My GEDCOM file from Ancestry will not import. I have approximately 1700 ancestors in the file but each time I try to import it the import fails. It fails at different times as well during the import process. Sometimes fails right from the start, other times it will go through a couple of steps, but it never gets completely downloaded and I get a blank tree in the program. How do I get Heredis to import my file properly? I was hoping Heredis would work better than this. I have imported files into the program before, but it has been a couple weeks now with no improvement in the import function. It imports perfectly in other genealogical software programs, but not Heredis.

I have seen the reply, but not sure how that helps me. I saw no link to send you my GEDCOM if that is what needs to be done. Like others I read in the topic, the GEDCOM works perfectly in Famly Tree Maker, MyHeritage, RootsMagic, and other programs. It is only this program I am having issues with. So please let me know what my next step is in getting this issue fixed.

rcarter, have you tried using one of the GedComs that successfully imported into FTM or the other programs, exporting a GedCom from that software, and trying to import it into Heredis?

Yes. It doesn't work then either. The GEDCOM I use for all of my programs comes from Ancestry. Even when I have exported from another program it will not download into Heredis.
