You've lost a user if there's no update on this.

You have been very patient but it looks like BSD have no intention of answering you.

I have just noticed in the original example a male is listed as someone's niece!

I am a Mac user and like Heredis but can feel your frustration here.
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac12,1
Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz
Memory: 4.0 GB
Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6

Model name iPad Air 2
iOS 13.4

Thanks, Billdog.

This is a real shame, my initial post is about to have its first birthday with no real response. Heredis isn't a bad package but this is a real failing.

I wonder if I can get a refund from BSD as this is not fit for purpose ;)

Support for your report was made the day you posted it (Oct 22 2013) and, later, a complete response was made there:

Yes, but the description is nonsense. If you can't see that then there are bigger issues.

I introduce my 4th cousin as that - I do not say that I am the g-g-grandson of the great aunt of her paternal grandfather.

When I met my lovely cousin from the other side of the world, we were delighted to find out that we were third cousins, once removed - we did not raise a glass to celebrate me being the g-g-grandson of her father's great uncle.

The simplest relationship (e.g. second cousin) works in both directions and should always be used. All other software does this expect, it seem, Heredis.

Your refusal to provide a sensible answer shows you in a very bad light and proves bad customer service. I wonder whether this comes from some bad and bizarre translation issue?
