Sudden display error - center family pane
I have just reinstalled Heredis 2014 on my HP laptop (Win 8.1, 16 GB RAM with NVIDIA GeForce GT) and am now receiving a "Floating point Division by zero" error when the software tries creating the center pane (family). Both right and left panes are okay.
I've tried resetting the laptop, checking updates (both Windows and NVIDIA), even uninstalling and reinstalling Heredis. No luck.
Heredis 2014 works find on my desktop (HP with Win 8.1, same RAM and video card). The problem seems limited to the laptop.
Any suggestions?

Re: Sudden display error - center family pane
It seems that your graphic driver is not up to date. Please check it and reinstall it if necessary.

Re: Sudden display error - center family pane
Thank you for the response. However, I have NCIDA GeForce Experience installed and according to NVIDA "Your GeForce driver is up to date". The graphics card driver was an obvious check, one I made long before I wrote the initial question. I also checked updates to Win 8.1 and even backed out the OS to an earlier restore point.
From your post I an guessing my experience (problem with part of the graphical interface display) has not happened before?

To be sure you problem is linked to your graphic driver, could you please install previous version of Heredis, in english, by clicking on the following link :
http://www.bsdconcept.com/download/beta ... eu5313.exe
You will be able to launch this version but if you try to generate a chart you will have an error. Is it right ?

Re: Sudden display error - center family pane
Thank you for the link, however I have a license to the last version (Heredis Bleu), so I installed from my download installation files (backups). The license was already on this laptop, so no need to add that either.
After reinstalling the Heredis Bleu, along with the automatic update, I decided to import a gedcom file. That import went well and the file, plus all graphics, display perfectly in Heredis Bleu.
I then reinstalled Heredis 2014 on this laptop. Again no need to added the license as that was already present on the computer. After copying the new Heredis Bleu file (imported from the Gedcom) to another location for backup, I started Heredis 2014, updated with the automatic patch, and opened (and updated the format of the Heredis Bleu file) in Heredis 2014. Again, the same divide by zero error message displayed for the center pane.
So, all works fine in Heredis Bleu, while the center pane of Heredis 2014 provides an error message.

Re: Sudden display error - center family pane

Does this error occur for various individuals ? With or without pictures attached to the various boxes ?
Does this happen using any "Themes" ?
Does it hapen as well with different files (you may try with the BSD sample file or create a small one anew) ?
Cordialement.

Re: Sudden display error - center family pane
The problem has nothing to do with individuals, pictures, or themes. The left and right panes display perfectly. It is only the center pane and apparently only when trying to display the Family and Lineage tabs. The Data tab displays perfectly. I have not tried displaying the Search tab yet.
And yes, ANY file (including the sample data file) displays the same error message.
Note: I have used SnagIt to capture screen shots if anyone is interested.

Re: Sudden display error - center family pane
I suspect the display of Themes to be for a great part causing the problem ...
Could you make a rapid test ?
- go to the Heredis install directory (on C:\ I suppose)
- change the name of the sub-directory Program Files (x86)/BSD Concept/Heredis 14/skins" to "skinsOLD"
- make a test oh Heredis (you will get a failure message at launch which you are to ignore)
Do you then still get the "divide by zero" message ?
Once this test is finished, you can return the modified subdirectory name to "skins".

Re: Sudden display error - center family pane
Yes, the divide by zero error is still present.
A bit of expansion on what I see on this laptop (using the sample data file):
* Family tab
- Immediate Family -- divide by zero error
- Extended Family -- divide by zero error
- Migrations - NO divide by zero error. Displays correctly
* Data tab
- Personal Data -- NO divide by zero error. Displays correctly.
- Extended Data -- NO divide by zero error. Displays correctly.
* Lineage tab
- Ancestors -- divide by zero error
- Descendants -- NO divide by zero error. Displays correctly.
* Search tab
- NO divide by zero error. Displays correctly.

Wrong guess then ?dmossfritch wrote:Yes, the divide by zero error is still present.
However, for each case where you don't get this error, the theme is not used or very lightly ...
