All surnames in upper case in Heredis Online?

Post by dgarciamagarinos » Sun Jul 28, 2019 5:46 pm

I have noticed that in Heredis Online all surnames are shown in upper case. I have tried to find a a way to change this behaviour (like in the desktop application) but I have not found any stetting.

The problem this capitalization seems to be following the French rules and while the spanish word "de" is not capitalized, the word "la" is wrongly capitalised:

The surname "de la Cámara" (which is fine in the desktop client) becomes "de LA CÁMARA", in Heredis Online, which is wrong.

Thanks for any suggestion.

Daniel

Hi, Mike,

Sorry for coming back to you so late but thanks a lot for your help those links. They have some really interesting suggestions, not just for Heredis Online. I still have to have a closer look at them although I am not sure how I can keep using special particles and still make Heredis Online not display surnames in all caps.

For the moment, I am not using Heredis Online for publication as it does not offer a user interface in Spanish nor the possibility of translating it yourself (in addition to forcing the use of all caps).

Currently, I am looking at The Next Generation Genealogy for the online stuff, as it offers more flexibility (at the expense of more complexity, admittedly). I can export and import my Gedcom from Heredis into TNG and I am quite happy with the combo Heredis/TNG.

Daniel
